Hardware Target Configuration

Hardware-Target-Configuration

Learning Objectives

After this section you will be able to:

  • Define what a host and target are.
  • Explain how a connection is made between the host and target.
  • Describe how to configure the target hardware.

All VxWorks projects are different, but they all require hardware configuration.

Configuring the Hardware

You have already learned that VxWorks is a real-time operating system but how do you develop with the OS? I'll show you how to configure and set up a connection from a host to a target.

When you are configuring your hardware, it is important to ensure compatibility between the CPU and the target board.

Here are a few examples of what the board and CPU combinations might look like:

  • Board: xlnx_zynqmp_3_0_0_1
    CPU: ARMARCH8A
  • Board: fsl_p1p2_4_0_0_1
    CPU: PPCE500V2
  • Board: ti_sitara_a15_3_0_0_1
    CPU: CORTEX_A15
